The Rothesay High boys basketball team clinching the provincial title after a thrilling 89-86 triple overtime win over Woodstock High at Harbour Station.

The Rothesay girls fell to Woodstock 62-48.

Action continues this afternoon with the KV High girls taking on Fredericton High at 1 p.m. and the Saint John High boys facing Fredericton at 3:30 p.m.

UPDATE: Saint John Stabbing Sends One Man To Hospital

Saint John police say one man was taken to hospital after a stabbing last night.

It happened on Wright Street shortly before 7 o'clock and the Major Crime Unit is investigating.

Sgt. Chuck Elgee says the victim's injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

One woman was arrested, but police say she's not the main suspect and they're still looking for a male suspect.

Elgee says it was not a random act and they believe they know who the suspect is.

Moncton Man Faces Charges Following River Incident

A Moncton man who floated down the Petitcodiac River on an ice chunk is now facing several criminal charges.

But Codiac RCMP say the charges are not related to the incident on the river.

Around 6am Thursday, Mounties responded to a complaint about an assault at a home on Salisbury Road.

But when officers arrived, the suspect had fled.

A short time later, a man was spotted on a large piece of ice floating down the river.

Despite rescue efforts from first responders, the man made it to shore safely on his own and was eventually taken into custody.

'I Miss My Son': Mother Of Missing St. Stephen Teen Appeals For Info

The family of a missing teenager from St. Stephen whose disappearance is considered suspicious with foul play suspected has issued a heartwrenching video appeal for information.

17-year-old Brayden Joseph Thibault was last seen on July 31 last year on the north side of Fredericton. His mom, Amanda Frigault asks if you have any information about what has happened to her son to please contact police or Crime Stoppers.

A Saint John/KV Robbery Case Set Over Until April Without Pleas

Two Saint John men back in court on charges relating to two separate armed robberies in the City and in the KV.
 
The crimes occurred back on November 13th 2017.

Terence Moses and Chaz Daigle, who are both in their 20's, face several charges including illegal possession of a firearm and armed robbery.

Sam's Variety on Carmarthen Street was robbed along with the Daly's on Hampton Road in Quispamsis.

Shots were fired during both robberies.

New Board Chair At Saint John Airport

As of midnight the Saint John Airport will have a new Chair of the Board of Directors.

Larry Hachey, the current vice-chair will step in as Norm McFarlane wraps up his nine year maximum term as board chair.

McFarlane, a former MLA and Mayor of Saint John is leaving the YSJ Board in good hands as the airport is continuing to have sustained growth and it had its highest ever passenger numbers in 2017.

Hachey became vice-chair last year.

Mother Of Missing Teen To Make Statement

The family of a missing teen from St. Stephen, will issue a statement this morning.

17 year old Brayden Joseph Thibault was last seen in Fredericton on July 31st last year.

RCMP are considering his disappearance as suspicious, and the Major Crimes Unit is investigating.

Brayden's mother, Amanda Frigault, will be on hand to read a statement on behalf of the family.

She will speak at the RCMP headquarters in Fredericton at 11am.

 

Man Killed In Kent County Collision

Mounties are investigating a two-vehicle collision on Highway 116 in Kent County.

Just before 11am Thursday morning near the Elsipogtog First Nation, police say a vehicle crossed the centre line and struck another vehicle which was being driven by a 27-year-old man.

Police say the Birch Ridge man died at the scene.

The other driver, a 34-year-old woman, was taken to hospital with unknown injuries.

An RCMP collision reconstructionist is assisting with the investigation.

Hot-Wiring Attempt Leaves DTI Truck Badly Damaged

A hot-wiring attempt didn't work out for somebody but it did leave a Department of Transportation and Infrastructure truck severely damaged.

West District RCMP says it happened sometime between 11am and 5pm on Monday at the DTI facility in Bedell and the truck was left on scene.
