A Federal task force will spend the next few months finding out what people think about legalising marijuana and how it should be done.
The task force is being chaired by former Justice and Health Minister Anne McLellen.
Former Toronto Police Chief Bill Blair, who's Parliamentary Secretary to the Justice Minister, says strong regulations are needed because marijuana is not a benign substance. He says it presents a risk to the developing brains of adolescents.
McLellen, back in 2005, described marijuana as a dangerous substance. She says a lot has changed since then and what we now have in place isn't working.
The task force will be presenting its recommendations to the Trudeau Government in November.
