The Royal engagement announced this week between Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, came as no surprise to many.
Spokesperson for the Maritime branch of the Monarchist League of Canada Barry MacKenzie says the couple have received a lot of media attention recently, but the big question is, "Will the wedding itself be as big a deal as when and Will and Kate got married?"
"The media attention I would imagine it will be just as much as it was in earnest as it was in 2011, but I do wonder if it will have the same sort of pageantry associated with it that William and Kate's did at that time. At the moment Prince Harry is fifth in line, but he will be sixth with the arrival of the Duke and Duchess' next child. He is far enough removed now that the expectation isn't there to put on the same kind of show," MacKenzie says.
MacKenzie adds, "Prince Harry tends to do things his own way, which is one of the hallmarks of his personality, so he expects it may not be as grand an affair. Certainly though, they will have their own unique touches."
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will wed at Windsor Castle in May of 2018.
