Inquest Ordered Into Shooting Death Of Bathurst Businessman

An inquest has been ordered by Justice Minister and Attorney-General Denis Landry into the death of Bathurst businessman Michel Vienneau who was shot and killed by police at the Bathurst train station in January of 2015.

Police were acting on a tip about Vienneau bringing drugs back from Montreal when they tried to stop him in the Via Rail parking lot. The anonymous tip turned out to be false.

Constables Patrick Bulger and Mathieu Boudreau were charged with manslaughter but a judge determined there wasn't enough evidence to proceed to trial. That decision was upheld in the Court of Queens Bench,
