NB Power Warns Of Phone Scam

Beware of yet another phone scam that's making the rounds this time from people pretending to work for NB Power.

NB Power itself has issued the warning saying that these people are asking for access to customers' homes under the guise of inspecting their water heater. NB Power says they only go to the home of a customer to service water hearters if the customer asks them to do so.

They're also reminding you to be cautious if you get a call asking for financial info or offering any products or services.

If you get a call like this you are strongly encouraged to report it immediately to local police, RCMP or the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre.

Saint John Energy does do proactive water heater inspections and says customers can expect a rep to get in touch with them for appointments. If you're questioning whether it's the real deal though, it's suggested you call them at 658-5252 and it's noted that their technicians do wear a Saint John Energy uniform and carry identification. They also suggest, if you're concerned, to get the rep to confirm the serial number on your tank.
