The Garcelon Civic Center getting a new piece of vital equipment -- thanks to the federal and provincial governments.

Close to $150 thousand dollars is being invested into a synthetic floor covering that will allow the facility to host conventions, conferences, concerts, and trade shows, while keeping the ice surface in place year round.

Tourism, Heritage and Culture Minister John Ames says the investment will allow the state-of-the-art facility to host major events all year long, creating opportunities for St. Stephen and Charlotte County.

South-West New Brunswick MP Karen Ludwig says the new flooring will create plenty of revenue opportunities for the area, as well as increase energy efficiency.
