The Canadian Union of Public Employees is worried about what will emerge from the provincial government's Strategic Review of public services.
The concern is such that the union leadership has met to formulate a plan to oppose any cuts that might be contained in the provincial budget. CUPE NB President Daniel Legere warns the government is trying to scare people by talking about 600 million dollars in cuts.
Legere argues austerity measures do not create economic growth and a perfect example of that is Europe these days.
He maintains New Brunswick has a revenue problem which can be fixed, in large part, by restoring corporate tax rates to where they were a few years ago.
