This year, Saint John received an unconditional grant from the province of $20.2 million but according to provincial figures, there will be a substantial drop next year.
The total grant in 2018 will amount to $16.6 million as the tax base in Saint John grew by $26 million.
Moncton's tax base shrank by more than $20 million while Fredericton's grew by just over $53 million.
The unconditional grants for Grand Bay-Westfield will exceed $533 thousand with a growth in the tax base of more than $1.5 million. The tax base in Quispamsis declined by $5.6 million and the town will receive $453 thousand from the province. Rothesay's tax base also shrank by $5.6 million and it's unconditional grant will amount to more than $121 thousand. The tax base in Hampton decreased by more than $2.9 million and its grant will total $211 thousand.
The town of Sussex saw a loss in its tax base of $2.9 million with its unconditional grant totalling $537 thousand.
