Repairing the damage caused by a fire at the Southeast Regional Correctional Centre in Shediac is ongoing.
A spokesperson for Justice and Public Safety says all staff at the jail have returned to their home correctional facility.
The department says 58 offenders also moved back in earlier this month after about 160 inmates were transferred to various other jails across the province.
Fire broke out at the Shediac jail on October 25th and the Fire Marshal's Office said the improper or accidental disposal of a cigarette was to blame.
Since the jail is supposed to be a non-smoking facility, Justice and Public Safety Minister Denis Landry expressed disappointment and an investigation is continuing.
