Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has made an apology on behalf of the federal government for the treatment of LGBTQ2 Canadians. Trudeau says the role of a government is to protect its citizens and in these cases, they failed by humiliating them and making people into criminals because of their sexual preference and purging the civil service from the 1960's to the 1990's.

Trudeau says the Government, Military and RCMP spied on their own people in what amounted to a witch hunt to seek out those who they said had character flaws and could be targets of blackmail by our adversaries. He then said they were targets but not of our adversaries but of their own government. The Prime Minister also announced the introduction of a bill that would erase the criminal records of those who were convicted of having consensual sex with their same sex partner.
