The Saint John Riptide opened up their regular season at Harbour Station with A 108-94 win over the Cape Breton Islanders. Gabe Freeman led the way for Saint John with 31 points.

In the NFL, Kirk Cousins threw two touchdown passes as the Washington Redskins beat the New York Giants 20-10.......Philip Rivers threw for 434 yards and three touchdowns as the Los Angeles Chargers beat up on Dallas 28-6 and Minnesota held on for a 30-23 win over Detroit.

There were no games in the NHL on the American Thanksgiving but 14 games are scheduled today starting with Boston against Pittsburgh this afternoon. Tonight, the Toronto Maple Leafs are in Carolina.  

The South African Supreme Court of Appeal has increased the prison sentence of former Olympian Oscar Pistorius, known as the blade runner, to 13 years and five months for the shooting death of his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp on Valentine's Day back in 2013. The state argued his original sentence of six years was "shockingly lenient."
