The Westford Nursing Home in Port Elgin is getting $2.2 million over five years for renovations.
Premier Brian Gallant and Memramcook-Tantramar MLA Bernard LeBlanc were at the nursing home yesterday to make the announcement.
LeBlanc says the staff at the Westford Nursing Home provide wonderful care for seniors in the region, and the investment will ensure this care can continue for years to come.
The funding is part of the province's five-year nursing home plan unveiled this past week.
It involves the creation of more than 1,000 new nursing home beds and memory care beds in New Brunswick over the next five years.
Ten new 60-bed nursing homes will be built around the province, an additional 407 beds for people living with dementia will be provided in special care homes, and 19 nursing home beds will be added to existing homes.
