More than 80 women from around the province will meet in Moncton tonight for the Women in Leadership Gala.
The sold-out event is hosted by the New Brunswick Federation of Labour and will include three guest speakers: New Brunswick NDP leader Jennifer McKenzie, Johanne Perron of the New Brunswick Coalition for Pay Equity, and Colleen Coffey with the Public Service Alliance of Canada.
Shanny Doucet, the federation's vice-president responsible for women's issues, tells us it's the fifth time they've hosted this gala.
"We want to bring women together who are involved either in their union or in their community in leadership ... and to encourage other women to be involved."
Two women will also be presented with the Women in Leadership Award for their ongoing contribution in the labour movement.
"The award is to recognize women that have been involved in the union and communities and continue to be involved and encourage other women to do so."
The gala begins at 6 p.m., guest speakers will take to the stage at 7:15 p.m., and the awards will be handed out at 9:15 p.m.
