Reversing the historical trend of population decline in Saint John is the aim of a newly released city strategy.
Saint John's growth committee is getting a look at the now-completed Population Growth Framework this week at its next meeting.
The framework includes 30 to-dos to be accomplished over three years and focuses on getting new people to move here, improving the experience for newcomers and keeping the people we already have.
Some items on this to-do list include hosting welcome ceremonies at city hall to welcome newcomers, creating a youth retention task force, and going on recruitment missions for the demands of our labour market.
The city lost nearly 2500 people in the 2016 census.
In the last 45 years, the city has seen a historical population decline in population of nearly 25-percent.
